Autumn is the perfect time of year to hop on your bike and take in all the breathtaking views you can. In North Carolina, the leaves are changing colors and the air is crisp so suit up and enjoy it! The only thing that can make a joyride this fall even better is a joyride from brewery to brewery, experiencing fantastic NC craft beer. When you’re traveling across the state on your motorcycle this season, what are some of the best breweries you won’t want to miss?
1. Wilmington Brewing Company
Nestled in the heart of Wilmington, North Carolina is Wilmington Brewing Company. With 15 original beers on tap, an outdoor beer garden and a dog-friend establishment, who could want more? This is the perfect place to ride up on your motorcycle and enjoy the atmosphere. Begin your cross-state joyride here on the coast.
2. White Street Brewing Company
Spend an afternoon exploring the quaint streets of downtown Wake Forest. Relax at White Street Brewing Company. Built into a 1930s car dealership, this 10-barrel brew house is the perfect backdrop for an awesome afternoon. Food trucks, trivia and live music are all things White Street has in store for its patrons.
3. Sierra Nevada Brewing Company
You definitely don’t want to skip over the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company in Asheville while joyriding this fall. This brewery is like Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory for adults. Fantastic year-round beers and delicious seasonal options – Sierra Nevada has something for everyone. Spend an afternoon out back in the huge outdoor beer garden by the fire pit, and make some time for a guided tour through the brewery.
4. Wicked Weed Brewing
While you’re still in Asheville, take the motorcycle over to Wicked Weed to experience an awesome atmosphere and some truly funky beers. With so many beers to choose from and incredibly unique flavors, you’ll definitely want to try more than one. The laid-back atmosphere and outdoor venue pair perfectly for live music on a sunny afternoon.
5. Oskar Blues Brewery
Take in the breathtaking scenery on the way to Brevard and spend the day at Oskar Blues Brewery. Home of Dale’s Pale Ale and the original craft brew in a can; Oskar Blues is tucked away in the Pisgah National Forest. Spend the afternoon enjoying great beer, the nature around you and delicious food truck goodies.
A Note on Safety
When you’re joyriding this fall, consider safety first and foremost. Drinking and driving is never a good idea, so find a place to stay for the night when you know you might have a little too much. Weekends have the highest fatality rate for motorcyclists in North Carolina. Keep in mind that even when you’re driving carefully, others may not be. Even if you feel “okay to drive,” considering pulling off somewhere for the night just to be safe.
