The big man in town. Cabarrus brewing is the largest of the breweries in the Concord area. Located just outside of downtown Concord, it can be a little hard to find. Just look for The Depot at Gibson Mill and go around back. You can’t miss it from there!
Cabarrus brewing is constantly expanding. Two years ago, they just had the main warehouse where they brewed the beer and sat guests. Food trucks would pull right up on the pavement next to the taproom. Then they added a covered porch for outdoor seating. Within the last year or so they added a massive outdoor beer garden with tables and a custom Cabarrus Brewing firepit! From the looks of it, an outdoor stage area for live music will soon be available.
There are over a dozen Cabarrus beers on tap along with some other local favorites. There is seating on two levels. Upstairs is a lounge area and the main floor has long wooden tables to sit hundreds of people. The brewery is clearly visible from the seating area through large windows. Out on the patio, there are even more picnic tables under a roof lined with ceiling fans to keep cool on the warm summer days.
Of course, as with most NC breweries, puppies are allowed! There is a separate lot for food trucks. Often there are several at a time. While I was visiting, there were three different trucks parked in the lot. On event nights, you can catch even more variety!
Cabarrus Brewing hosts many events over the year. There is a weekly trivia contest, yoga nights, and run clubs. On the day I went to visit, there was a comic convention going on. Artists were selling their work and superheroes were running around everywhere! I even got to meet Iron Man and Spiderman. Check out their events page to keep up with all the happenings.
Since this brewery is the happening place to be in the Concord area, if that’s not up your alley, you can even find their beer in grocery stores all over the area. They can some of their most popular beers for local sales. Make sure you try out the Vanilla Coffee Blonde for a real taste of Concord. Cabarrus uses local S&D coffee to make the specialty brew!
