|ORANGE BLOSSOM SPECIAL
Sazerac Rye Ale
ABV: 6.7% | IBU: 20
Sometimes what you need after the first half of the week is to sit down with a tasty drink and do nothing. Isn’t it nice to relax for a moment and let the world slip by?
We thought so. To celebrate the mid-week hustle, we urge you to take an hour or so to chill out with us and forget about your to-do list (unless, of course, “Drink Birdsong” is on there). This week’s “Orange Blossom Special” is perfect for just that. A beer meant to be sipped, this Sazerac-inspired brew has hints of orange citrus, star anise and a pleasant rye spice. Ruby amber in color and flush with aromatics, “Orange Blossom Special” is intended for thoughtful imbibing just like the cocktail that influenced it.
Fancy and Fun: In 1850, the Sazerac Cocktail became the first “branded” drink of its kind, according to the Sazerac website. Originally made with French Brandy and bitters, the drink was changed in 1873 to include rye whiskey and a smidge of absinthe. Try your own at home with this recipe.
Like what you find at Birdsong? Let’s go steady on social.
