As we approach the end of March, we get closer to Charlotte Craft Beer Week! Yep, friends, it’s that time of year when all the local breweries get together and celebrate everything that is awesome in our industry. We’re adding to the festivities with Saturday’s release of Hazy Sexy Cool and next Sunday’s annual creek cleanup. In between, you can find tons of great events. Check it out here.
But hold on! Before you get your fill of collaborations, tap takeovers, and the like, you must come check out this THURStyTHURSday’s release, Extraordinary Machine. Our red saison has a pleasant floral nose and hints of dark red fruit for a nice balance of sweet and tart. You might pick up on ripe strawberries, cranberries, or raisins. These flavors are accented by the dry-hop addition of Ekuanot, Comet and Cascade hops for just a touch of light bitterness. It’s so subtle, you’ll barely even know it’s there.
The Controversial NEIPA: The New England IPA is now an officially recognized style by the BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program). Unlike its West Coast companions, the NEIPA is distinguishable by its hazy appearance. They are frequently “juicier” than West Coast styles and are occasionally considered the Anti-IPA IPA because it doesn’t “fit in” with the other kids in school. Different is good, so drink up thisSaturday, 3/31!
