Who knew June would be such a bountiful month for sour beer? We know how much everyone loved our Blonde Sour the first couple times it came out. We also know how much people loved the fruity Blackberry and Bourbon Barrel variant we did. For us, it’s been a lot of hard work getting all this upcoming fruit into this upcoming beer. For you, the hardest you’ll have to work is getting here every Wednesday this month to guarantee yourself a taste of these fine fruited flavors. First up is the Tangerine and Mango variant, out today 5/30. Taproom opens at 4pm, as per usual.
This Thursday (tomorrow), we’re hosting a non-profit dog adoption and awareness event in conjunction with Yadid’it Dog Training and the local Helius Foundation. We’ll have beer pouring, puppies puppin’, and while you’re at it, you can buy some hot sauce. This do-good event is a good lead-in to our Happy Hour events every Thursdayin June, where you can come drink at the taproom and know that a portion of your proceeds go directly to StepUp Durham and all of the job seekers they help empower.
Want to hear something funny? So do I, and that’s where you come in. Every Friday evening we host an Open-Mic Amateur Stand-Up Comedy Night! OMASUCN is your chance to test your comedy mettle against a crowd of tipsy locals who just got off a long week of work. Bring your a-game, polish those punchlines, and I’m sure you’ll schtick the landing. The fun and laughter starts at 8pmevery Friday, and this week we’ve got Braising Hell on site for all the bbq and slaw you could want (history has taught me cabbage is a great way to boo somebody).
Saturday we’ve got something for you whether you’re participating in the Durham Cider Crawl or not. We’ll have our pal Pete Pawsey laying out some tunes for us in the early evening from 4-6pm, which is always a nice afternoon treat. On the food side of things, Adobo Joe is here from 5-8pm to serve up this amazing Filipino food that the mouth-watering pictures online don’t even do justice.
We’ll be in the wild this week at the Museum of Life and Science! Tomorrow evening they’re putting on a Dynamic Duos after-hours event. This 21+ event is going to feature a ton of your favorite local breweries, cideries, meaderies, distilleries, and that’s just on the drink side. There will also be a crazy amount of good food created by local chefs and restaurants that have been lifting the Durham food scene up to greater heights in recent years. Each station will contain a taste-tested and delicious pairing of food and alcohol, although if you don’t want to partake in either side of a station, no one will hold it against you. While you’re there you can get inside tips on cool recipes, industry info, and how an up-and-coming chef or drinker might make it big in this city.
Monday night we’re throwing another trivia party! This time around Jessie is bringing us back to the 80s, which is my favorite decade to reminisce about despite having missed it completely. We’ve got Cilantro on site with their authentic Mexican dishes to make sure you’re tortilla-lly ready for trivia. The fun starts at 7pm, but the smart Quizzler gets there early to snag a good spot and get that buzz going.
Love pinball but hate carrying change around? Love cheaper beer than usual? Want to drink at a lower price on a Tuesday? That’s my kind of people. Every Tuesdayat the taproom we are offering not only $1 off full pours of our beer, but also free pinball! Come get your game on, you’d be surprised what a couple pints can do for your high score.
Want to see where the magic happens? Every first and third Friday of the month we provide tours through groupon. Don’t worry, the people giving the tours know much more about the equipment and process than me. Get yours at http://gr.pn/2nW6x3E.
