Here it is–your weekly information and education-packed missive on the upcoming happenings at D’s.

Here is the education part right off the the bat.  You probably already know that Albert Einstein was a genius.  But did you know that his brother Frank was a monster?
Pint Glass Night with Revision Brewing
Wednesday, October 11 D’s is proud to welcome in Revision Brewing Co. from Sparks, Nevada for our Pints Glass Night Extravaganza. The head brewer and partner in this venture was formerly the main man at Knee Deep Brewery– and he knows about hops.  We were only able to secure 2 kegs, but we expect to have some other beers from Revision in package to sample out.  Also, the glassware is in and that plus Dante’s pizza will hit right around 6:00 pm.
Run Club Update
Monday, October 16 D’s Run Club will have as our special guest the folks from 73 Threads.  These guys are friends of Run n Tri and what they do is pretty cool.  You tell them what you want to put on your shirt and they will print it while you are out on your run.  Prices for your custom shirt are in the $25 range and snarky and/or wise-ass comments and sayings are allowed (and encouraged).  We run, as always, promptly at 6:30 (ish).

Last Two Pint Nights of the Season

Wednesday, October 18 brings Dogfish Head Brewing Co. in for Pint Glass Night.  The rep from Dogfish is planning on being here with some cool swag.  And there is a pretty good chance D will break into his 2 hour stash.  Figure it out.

Wednesday, October 25 will be our final Pint Glass Night of 2017.  There will not be a featured brewery, but D will be cleaning out the back storage area of all sorts of random glasses and other beer stuff.  This will be your chance to maybe pick up the glass you missed earlier in the year or some other neat logo gear.

Wednesday, November 1 is the date for the long awaited and much heralded return of Trivia According to D.  Get your teams ready, spend some time at the library, and remember this word–flamboyance–you will get at least one question right.  Same rules as last year–any team you want to bring and cash money to the winners.  Not squat for 2nd.

Special Notes
Sunday, November 5 is the date for our next wine tasting–4:00 til 6:00 pm.Special Event Notice-   Thursday, November 16 D’s is proud to team up with our buds from Ewe’s Trees again for our Thanksgiving Food Drive. These guys are Raleigh’s, and certainly D’s, most loved Irish band.  The food collected will go to help feed some folks who are not quite as fortunate as most of us are.  And as an added bonus, the Pres has located a dozen or so of the cool pint glasses we gave away at our 2 year anniversary party.  The first 12 folks who bring a frozen turkey on that Thursday get one of the glasses.  The key words here are “frozen”
and “that Thursday“.  We will have boxes out in a couple weeks for non-perishables, but the frozen birds can only be accepted on Thursday, November 16.  We hope you will make plans now to come out and get your Irish on with us.

Special Wine Note– We have received a small amount of Quintessa and have a couple bottles of Opus One left if you are looking for a special wine.  We have also managed to get a very good deal on a couple cases of some very well known and very well done pinot noir.  D is happy to pass along the savings, but you gotta come by and ask about it.

Special Beer Note-  This week we got our allotment of Xocoveza Mexican Hot Chocolate Stout from Stone (100 pts on Beer Advocate), and also from Stone a beer some of us tried at the brewery on the field trip, Vengeful Spirit IPA (D recommended).
