Olde Hickory Brewery – Hickory

We send greetings from the Olde Hickory Brewery in this episode of the NC Beer Buzz as we talk to Jake Gee, brewer, at Olde Hickory Brewery nestled as they say “in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Hickory”. Jake is the namesake for the Saison Gee among his other accomplishments and we get to know him and his work at Olde Hickory in this interview. Beginning in 1994 with a 7 barrel converted dairy system, they quickly outgrew that system and today operate a 25-barrel Price Schonstrom brew house. Olde Hickory says “great beer is the result of meticulous attention to detail throughout the brewing process” and that their beers “begin their life as fresh water that flows from the granite slopes of the Blue Ridge and culminate in small batches less than 800 gallons each”. Check out what Jake has to say to us!
