In this new NCBeerBuzz episode, we visit with co-brewers Aaron Caracci and Chris Atkins of the Top of the Hill Restaurant and Brewery in Chapel Hill. Scott Maitland, founder of Top of the Hill (TOPO) restaurant, brewery and now distillery opened the TOPO doors in 1996 which makes TOPO’s brewery the 8th oldest surviving brewery in North Carolina. They brew all of their beers right on the premises at the corner of “Blue Heaven” or Franklin and Columbia streets. They were the first establishment in the South to have a full-time cask-conditioned ale program on premises. Three beers are maintained on tap year round and other styles rotate for a total of approximately 20 beers being brewed every year from 60 TOPO recipes. TOPO is the craft beer destination spot in Chapel Hill!
