Lonerider Brew-It-Forward 2015 Sep 12 2015

Brew It Forward 2015 will be held at Lonerider Brewing Company.

Judging will be begin at 10am. Winner will be announced at 2PM. 8816 Gulf Ct #100, Raleigh, NC 27617

We believe in giving back to the community and as home brewers and beer geeks we realize the opportunity we have had in being able to realize our dream. Therefore, we want to share the chance of brewing a batch in a professional environment with others who may have similar aspirations. We also want to split the profits from sale of the first winning batch on our system between the winner, and other charities. We realize it’s a small step forward towards furthering the state of craft beer; but we hope a step in the right direction. Research. Browse the Lonerider website and become familiar with our product portfolio. Your American-style brown ale may be great, but do you thin that it is good enough to replace Lonerider's "Sweet Josie", which won a gold medal at the 2010 Great American Beer Festival? Some examples of previous beers to win Brew-it-Forward are a pale hoppy lager, a black hoppy ale, and a pale malty ale. None of them had anything in common with existing Lonerider products. Be creative.

This contest is about brewing your best beer. There are no style guidelines to limit your creativity. Try combining the attributes of one or more beers into something new. Also remember that you are responsible for naming the beers, so think of a clever name that fits into the Lonerider "old west" theme. So, fill out your entry forms, recheck the rules, fees, and drop off locations, and send off your entry. It’s now out of your hands, so stop worrying. You’ve done all you can do. Oh, and be sure to save a bottle to drink when you get the scoresheets back.

The Outer Banks Brewtäg is a celebration of flight and beer held October 3rd in Nags Head at The Soundside Event Site at 6906 S. Croatan Hwy. Teams will strap a 32 lb beer keg to a homemade flying contraption and launch it off a 20-foot flight deck. A celebration of flight and beer, OBX Brewtäg is modeled after the whimsical and entertaining Red Bull Flutag, translated to “flying day” in German. With OBX Brewtäg, the general premise is the same, although rather than human-powered flying machines, Brewtäg contestants will be competing to see who can launch and fly an empty 1/6 keg barrel the furthest. The cost to compete at OBX Brewtäg is only $25 and the sky is the limit as to how creative your homemade flying contraption can be! Individuals and teams are welcome. Admission to the event is FREE to the general public. A rather crafty selection of local and regional beer and food will be available for purchase that day. This family-friendly event will also feature plenty of activities for the kiddos!

Caldwell County artist studio tours will run 9am-2pm.

The festival downtown will run 2-6pm (this is where many artists and 9+ craft brewers set up together downtown behind Howard Brewing, 1001 Harper Ave NW, Lenoir - corner of Boundary Street & Harper Avenue) with live music, food vendors, and children's art activities.

Cost to be in the brochure is only $35 (on the studio tour and/or set up & selling at the festival - you can do either or both for one price).

We also hope non-selling demo-only artists will attend (free) and maybe even offer a teaching opportunity at the Hues & Brews festival (weavers, spinners, painters, artists/crafters of all types etc.)

Paying artists will receive a free craft beer tastings ticket for the festival.

All will pay a separate $25 setup/takedown deposit - if you setup/take down on time you get the deposit check back.

Everyone provides their own tables/chairs/tents etc.
