The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery Newsletter – OMB’s 9th Anniversary!

OMB’s 9th Anniversary
OMB’s 9th Anniversary includes live music by Family And Friends and lots of fresh, pure beer…
Facebook event:

Prost! The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery has been enriching the quality of life in the CLT region for nine years this March: from premium, award-winning beer to a unique, award-winning Brauhaus & Biergarten experience to partnerships with local charities, foundations, vendors, craftsmen, etc. to our team of passionate, service-minded Charlotteans.

“We’re proud to be Charlotte Born & Brewed,” says OMB’s founder, John Marrino. “Since OMB was the only brewery in Charlotte when we opened in 2009, the biggest challenge was overcoming skepticism that a small local brewery could produce world-class beer – and make it consistently week in and week out. The first two years were spent building a base of repeat customers who could vouch for our freshness and premium quality. Those fans got us to where we are today. Over the past nine years, we are most proud of the acceptance and support we’ve received from the citizens of Charlotte, as well as the local bar and restaurant community.”

As in previous years, the event will feature delicious OMB brews and great live music. For beer, year-round offerings Copper Altbier, Captain Jack Pilsner, and Hornet’s Nest Hefeweizen will be on tap, along with Früh Bock and Anniversary Alt. Früh Bock captures the promise of warmer days ahead, combining a slight malty sweetness with a refreshing touch of citrus aroma from its noble Bavarian hops. Anniversary Alt, or “Anni Alt,” is brewed each year in anticipation of OMB’s Anniversary celebration. It is like a bigger version of OMB’s flagship Copper: rich in flavor, but with more malty sweetness and a higher ABV.

OMB’s Director of Brewing Operations, Dave Martin: “All OMB beers are brewed using only four ingredients: water, malt, hops and yeast in strict accordance with the world-famous German beer purity law of 1516, the Reinheitsgebot. We also naturally carbonate – an increasingly rare practice in the brewery industry – using the pure CO2 produced by the yeast during fermentation to give our beer its effervescence. We pull our brews from the lager tanks weekly, so you can always be sure it’s fresh. And, we insist on keeping it cold from production to delivery to store shelves to you, because all beer should be kept cold to maximize freshness. We hope you join us to celebrate 9 years of pure, fresh, cold beer this March 24th.”

For live music, Family And Friends (folk rock band from Athens, GA) will headline at 7pm.
